Happy Holidays From The Lake!

Holiday greetings from the shore of beautiful Sturgeon Lake! Like most people when the season is upon us, we turn inwards and think about ways to change up our space and prepare for the holidays. This fall we have been busy adding our new dining room, finishing details on our kitchen and of course editing, moving things around and nesting. We can’t wait to share our personal projects with you. Our beloved Rigadoon which is the name of our home, has been a labour of love and with every touch we bring our very own Kawartha lifestyle vision to life.

Designing on these lakes is in our DNA from Tim’s long family history to now having my mom and sister close by in town. As designers, we like to end each year remembering the wonderful rooms that we have created for our clients. Our clients become friends and family and we take great pride in their inspiration and desire to build not just a home or cottage, but a life full of colour, collections, and functioning spaces for our Kawartha seasons.

Living on these lakes and in these towns is what makes Kawartha Lakes the jewel it has been long known to represent.

Christmas always reminds us that marketing would have us think that everything has to be perfect and that as designers, we must be incredibly organized and pulled together for such a holiday of supposed glitz and glamour! Let us assure you that at Home by Tim + Chris we believe that your own creativity and last-minute decisions are often the best ones and not everything has to be curated. Through our many build and design experiences with our Kawartha clients, we know that lake life requires a certain lifestyle, and also because we live it too. Living year round on the lake brings a casual and comfortable feel to our weekends. Holidays in our home, tend towards the uncurated with a relaxed and ready for anything approach.

As the holidays approach, tell your own seasonal design story! The uncurated Christmas leaves room for unexpected guests, encourages an open mind and invites a more relaxed holiday spirit into our homes and cottages.  Each year our holiday message remains the same: discover the surprise and delight in the art of the beautifully imperfect and uncurated Christmas!
