Studio TC – Where Every Product Tells a Story

Millwork traces its history back to the “Golden Age.” Spanning 1880 – 1910, the industrial revolution produced machines and tools that began to see efficiencies for creating new designs with wood.  The widespread use of wood took hold and soon everything in a Victorian era home was made from wood including furniture. Details, types of finishes and techniques founded an entire engineering profession and skilled craftsman were experimenting with all aspects of shaping wood.

The start of something special!

Even though this may be the oldest profession, it is anything but forgotten. Creating interiors and features in renovations and builds, now requires the skill set of true master craft people to interpret gorgeous, unique designs and integrate top-tier products into exceptional homes and spaces.

Sturgeon Lake Guest House Video Tour:

A custom guest house cottage built entirely from Canadian ply brings a warm yet modern feel to the space. The natural grain and light tone of the wood give it that clean, architectural look you’d expect to find in the pages of Dwell — simple, refined, and beautifully intentional. By working with thoughtful built-ins and smart storage solutions, we were able to optimize every square foot, creating a purposeful environment that feels calming, functional, and perfectly welcoming for guests.

From built-ins to custom stairways, Studio TC can design and implement any vision that our designers or client’s wishes may entail.

At Home by Tim + Chris, interior finishes are an important service offering and having the right people in place and environment in which to create, is something we take great pride in with our Studio TC.

“After” remains true to the original vision!

Our Studio TC team are skilled at meticulous craftsmanship. From built-ins to detailed millwork, our designers use Studio TC to bring innovative and custom solutions to our clients. This is how we make your home or cottage uniquely yours. We work closely with you to create crafted pieces that reflect your design vision and enhance your space with both form and functionality in mind. Having all of our services under one roof, is another way we service clients efficiently and can adhere to our high standards for quality design.

Our recent Balsam Lake project featuring built-in shelves. The exterior columns presented a storage opportunity so within each column Studio TC created shelving of white oak. Each section blends seamlessly with the wall and our client was happy to utilize empty space!

As you’ve likely guessed by now, our team are special. Each employee is like a family member and we hold their skill set and talent in high regard. Albert came to us from a landscape architect background. He had always been dabbling in woodworking and honestly, he’s a modern-day renaissance man with his pencils, moustache and newspaper boy hat. We can’t take him anywhere because people know instantly he must be the carpenter! With the confidence that Albert lends to our clients, custom woodworking projects turn into so much more than a regular deliverable.

How it works

Presenting Inspiration

Inspiration like they say, can come from anywhere, and presenting that to our clients in a relatable and easy to understand way is key. At the end of the day, the pretty pictures have to translate into the dream we sold!

Elevate Elevate Elevate

Not only are we elevating the design of a room with millwork, we are showing the elevation of the actual pieces. Cabinetry, built-ins, benches, whatever the need for form and functionality, we need to depict the line drawing elevation. Giving a space lines, and a function is the easy part, giving a space a unique and interesting design is the glitter on top! Can storage be more to the eye than simply a literal interpretation? Sometimes we need it to be a feature in a room and other times we use it to hide a not-so-great feature in a room.

Put Your 3D Glasses On

Being able to render an idea in 3D is where we can precisely show our clients what a particular piece of woodwork can look like. By using 3D modelling we can enhance visualization and show intricate details that otherwise would be hard to imagine. This stage also moves communication along efficiently to help reduce design iterations. Errors at installation stage can be avoided as modelling provides a more accurate and specific view of the project.

A ”Before” 3D rendering provides our client with a specific look at how their kitchen in this historical refurbish will ultimately look.

Build it And They Will Come…Home

Once construction starts, it’s more obvious how the scale and original concept is going to translate. Sometimes we use prototypes to test how the cabinetry or furniture will suit the environment. The industry has come a long way and now we can work smarter with the right tools. But it’s always been about the impassioned creative behind the pencil, the vision has to come from somewhere and at Studio TC, our valuable team of creators are the ones who create the design intent.
